My last post was in August, and I've decided to pen down some of the more significant events that happened henceforth before I welcome the new year.
In September, just one week before Rong Rong turned 2, she fell sick with high fever and I almost thought she was going to suffer from seizure again. We rushed her to the hospital and thought it could be another round of viral fever. To my surprise, she was diagnosed with mycoplasma which was a form of bacteria infection that required the administration of antibiotics. Thankfully, she was discharged 2 days before her birthday, and was in time for our mini birthday celebration party at home. It was also my first time ordering birthday decorations from the ever most popular Taobao to keep costs low, and also catered a mini party buffet set from Stamford Catering who didn't get my order correct =/
In October, it was the first time darling had her examinations. I was quite worried when she fell sick and lost her voice just before the chinese oral examinations. Thankfully she recovered when it was her turn to have her oral. Something unexpected about dabao also happened. We were so shocked and amazed and proud that her results were so brilliant and she actually topped the whole Primary two level in her school!! Dabao really achieved her goal about going to the best class P3 Gracious next year.
In November, we were so looking forward to a relaxing family holiday at Melbourne. It was the first time we planned the whole trip ourselves with three days of self driving and two days of private tour. However, the supposed relaxing trip turned out to be the most stressful trip in my life. Rong Rong fell sick two days before our trip, and we were still at Thomson Medical Centre on the day when we had to fly off. Her fever was so high and doctor was suspecting that she had UTI. The nurse even prepared ice pack for us so that we can bring the medicine up the plane. To make matters worse, Rong Rong refused to take her medication on the plane even when I mixed her medicine with fruit puree. She even vomited on the plane! I was so worried that we would be quarantined when we reached Australia. Thank goodness she recovered in the first two days of our trip, and I must say being exhausted was an understatement.
In December, just two weeks after we returned from Melbourne, Rong Rong fell sick again with four days of high fever. (NOT AGAIN). After that, Mum also fell sick, followed by myself and then Le Xuan. It's been a long time since Le Xuan fell so sick with four days of high fever, must be the same virus that mei mei contracted. Luckily we still managed to carry out some of our planned holiday activities for Le Xuan before her holiday ended for e.g. watched the movie Co Co, ate her favourite buffet at lotus vegetarian restaurant, went rock climbing, had steamboats twice, christmas shopping, went Time Zone arcade and also bowling. Another thing worth mentioning and in fact worth celebrating was that dear finally cleared MDRT this year!!! We are so proud of Papa, his hard work had finally paid off, definitely a perfect example for our girls. :)
On this last day of 2017, I wish that my loved ones will be blessed with good health and happiness, our family will stay strong and united, our girls will continue to bloom and become better persons, and my hubby will continue to shower me with lots of TLC, lol. To an even Happier New Year! Cheers!! :D

Le Xuan's 2nd Piano Recital
Gosh, can't believe I have not written anything for more than half a year. I must say it's been really tiring but fulfilling handling a cheeky 22-month toddler who hates to sleep and is getting more active by the day. Oh and to put things on record, she's finally potty trained at 22 months! (Daytime only). What makes it even more challenging is the need to also manage dabao's development, school work and piano practices on top of my tuition business, trying my best to be a great tuition teacher and making ends meet.
To illustrate how difficult it is to write this entry, haha the little one is pushing my keyboard away with all her might. No matter what, I will make sure that I can finish this post about dabao's wonderful piano recital this year on 23 July 2017.
Le Xuan is learning her grade 2 piano this year but the teacher is planning for her to start learning grade 3 towards the last quarter of the year so that she can take her grade 3 exams in Jun/Jul next year. When she was selecting the song for this year's recital, her teacher had recommended "This old man" but I couldn't believe that she changed her mind 2 weeks before the recital and said that she wanted to play one of her grade 2 exams songs. I could see that Teacher Tang was not very comfortable with her choice as Le Xuan had yet to grasp that song very well, but he still agreed and asked Le Xuan to practise alot more until the recital day.
There were two rehearsals prior to actual recital, but Teacher Tang was not there for both rehearsals to give her any comments. And there wasn't much breakthrough when she practiced at home, until it suddenly dawned on me that I read this article before about how to reduce kid's anxiety and boost their confidence for any exams or performance. It mentioned something about reminding kids about a similar event that they did very well, so I decided to give that a try. I reminded her about her grade 1 exam song "Asian Tiger Prowl" and how she had impressed the examiner with this song which she scored almost full marks, and the examiner's comments about her characterful and spirited performance. It seemed to have some magical effect all of a sudden and she suddenly played the recital piece again with grace and confidence. At that moment, I knew that it has worked :)
On the recital day, Papa was full of pride and anticipation as he had missed Le Xuan's recital last year and this was the first time he would be there at the recital, with his camera all ready. Couldn't wait to bring mum and rongrong along next year to support Le Xuan. So happy to have captured Le Xuan's performance on video but as usual the file size is too big to be uploaded here.
I could see that Teacher Tang was very impressed with Le Xuan's performance during the recital, and of course Papa and Mama were beaming with pride. Le Xuan was also happy to see Jiu Jiu, Jiu Ma and Abby there to support her for the second time. Hope darling will continue to enjoy this music journey which I believe will make a difference in her life. Proud of you, my princess!!!

P1 Orientation Performance and Prize Giving ceremony
2016 had been an eventful year for Le Xuan as she embarked on her primary school journey. It took her quite long before she settled down emotionally, but luckily she didn't have much problems in terms of her academics, which meant one less thing to worry about.
I had enrolled darling in Chongfu's wushu class at the beginning of the year although I knew she didn't like it given that she's not a sporty person and would prefer reading a good book to sweating it out at wushu. However, we were pleasantly surprised at the end of the year when she was selected to perform during the P1 orientation performance. Training was tough as she had to go for rehearsals three times a week, but I was beaming with pride when I saw Le Xuan performing on stage for the incoming P1s. She had persevered and emerged stronger after a year of wushu.

She's the 3rd one from the right :)
Not only had Le Xuan done well for her wushu, Dear and I were also surprised when we learnt that she would be receiving academic awards at the annual prize giving day. We had always had the impression that there is no exam for P1s, and assumed that there is no academic awards for P1s then. I could still remember vividly that she came home from school one day, saying that she had gotten 1st in class, 2nd in the whole P1 cohort and also a CARS award which she didn't know what it meant, haha. Totally unexpected, totally surprised again.
On Prize giving day, Dear and I showed our fullest support by being there for her. We could see that she's a little nervous but happy to see Papa Mama there. All the students were looking happy that day as it was also the last day of school before their long holidays!
Before prize presentation starts

Receiving her award and a write up of Le Xuan by her teachers
At the prize giving day, Dear and I got to know that CARS award actually meant Chongfu All Rounders Student award. Le Xuan was given a medal for this award, along with a Popular $20 voucher, $150 cheque and certificate that day. Glad that Le Xuan had done well in her primary one stint, but hope this will not give her additional stress for primary two. Hopefully she'll continue to enjoy this learning journey and grow to be a resilient, confident and gracious individual. Love you loads darling! *muacccks*
