Bye Bye Pacifier!!

This is a super duper overdue post, and I better pen this down before year 2012 ends.  Oh my goodness, the last post was actually in Mar 2012, before I fell sick, hahaha.

Well, this post is about another big milestone of darling, that is bidding farewell to her pacifier for good. We realised that darling was getting more and more attached to her pacifier and it seemed to be affecting the growth of her front teeth. So papa decided to use positive reinforcement to persuade Le Xuan into giving up her pacifier, i.e. a 3D carnival puzzle for her if she managed to kick the habit of sucking pacifier.  So this difficult mission started during the first week of Sep 2012, and we could see that she was really struggling and crying bitterly every night. What made me even more heartbroken was that she did not even dare to mention the word "ji ji" (aka pacifier) when she was really craving for it. There were times when I almost gave in, and wanted to relieve her from the withdrawal symptoms.  Moreover, I felt really apologetic towards mum, cos it was obviously a difficult period for her too, having to put up with Le Xuan's tantrums.

After struggling for a month, Le Xuan successfully kicked the habit of sucking pacifiers in Oct 2012, one month before she turned 3!! So proud of our darling!! Needless to say, she obviously got her gift from papa and mama, and of cos more hugs and kisses! *muaks*

Le Xuan's first trip to the ZOO!!!

Dear took leave on 2 March as we planned to bring Le Xuan to the zoo! Haha I seemed more excited than Le Xuan about this as I had been waiting for this day that I thought Le Xuan would be ready to go to the zoo.

It was drizzling that morning but luckily the rain stopped just before we left the house. Unfortunately, there was a massive traffic jam and it took us more than an hour to reach the zoo. By the time we reached the zoo, we could see that Le Xuan didn't seem as energetic and lively as before, as she got bored and restless when we were stuck in the traffic jam.

After getting the tickets, we started our zoo adventure. Haha dear and I were like pointing here and there, asking Le Xuan to look at the animals. Be it the parrots, monkeys, flamingos and penguins, Le Xuan looked disinterested, which was evident in the pictures that we took, tsk tsk. Then dear suggested catching an animal show for kids and we ran all the way there with dear pushing Le Xuan in her stroller, and me desperately trying to catch up with them with my shoes kept coming off.  Dear and I were panting and sweating when we finally caught the show, and guess what, Le Xuan wanted to leave as she saw a carousel outside and wanted to go there instead.

Dear and I thought it was time to take a break and we took Le Xuan to the KFC nearby. The air con in KFC seemed to lighten Le Xuan's mood as she felt more comfortable, and also because we agreed to bring her to the carousel after lunch. She enjoyed her ai xin lunch from por por and we finally managed to take some happy shots of her.
Looking forward to the carousel!!

Ironically, the highlight of our zoo trip was the CAROUSEL! Le Xuan was beaming when she sat on the panda at the carousel. She had so much fun but hubby and I were feeling giddy as the carousel turned round and round. Haha but of course we were happy to see her enjoying herself so much.

After the carousel, the sky was getting dark and Le Xuan was getting tired as it was near nap time. Dear and I quickly brought her around to see the big animals i.e. giraffe, rhinoceros and elephant before it started to drizzle again. When we were making our way out to the exit, Le Xuan looked exhausted and fell asleep on the stroller. Haha it was a really tiring day for dear and I too. I'm sure we will make another trip to the zoo again, and I hope that Le Xuan will be able to better appreciate the animals then.
