Nov - Dec 2018

Before the year ends and we welcome the new year 2019, I've decided to write a post.  Feels bad that I've only written one post this year, been maintaining this blog for almost 9 years liao, with the intention of penning down memories as a family, hopefully laogong can also work together to maintain this blog.

Le Xuan had done well for her school exams this year, and of course we were extremely proud of her.  She was disappointed that she didn't qualify for GEP,  her emotions so overwhelmed that it triggered her hives again, but thankfully she got over with that pretty soon, and is enjoying her school holidays now.

We went to Hong Kong for our holidays recently, but I must say it's super exhausting. Meimei fell sick on the second day, with continuous fever throughout the trip, and developed running nose and a bad cough too. When we finally came back to Singapore, her cough was so bad that we had to bring her to the clinic the very next day and was prescribed with one week of antibiotics and tons of other medicine for her bronchitis. In Hong Kong, almost all the places of interest were overcrowded, and large amount of time were spent on queuing, not forgetting various unpleasant service encounters (but the hotel staff were really friendly). As promised to Le Xuan, we stayed one night at Disneyland Hotel as part of her birthday celebration. Haha I must say it's quite unforgettable as we didn't even get to have a proper dinner that day, ended with in-room dining that arrived at 10.30pm and cost a bomb!! At least Papa managed to get a slice of cake to celebrate our darling's birthday, lol.  From this trip to Disneyland, I must say Le Xuan has really grown and probably would have enjoyed Harry Potter Land more. Another conclusion: Meimei is not crazy over disney characters, and in fact she's afraid of them, hahahha.

Thankfully, the kids enjoyed themselves very much at Ocean Park. There were no long queues and they managed to play so many rides, and even got to see pandas and took cable car too! For me, I like the beautiful Chi Lin nunnery and the Nan Lian gardens where I felt more relaxed, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Both hubby and I thought that we would probably not visit Hong Kong again, and perhaps take a break from travelling next year. Most likely, it'll be a staycation at Sentosa!

In about two weeks' time, meimei is going to start school!!!! Praying hard that all goes well, and we can all adapt to the new routine soon. Enough about the kids, I must also mention that hubby has achieved his MDRT goal again this year! Tough journey but he managed to do it!!! So proud of him and hope he'll be an inspiration to the kids.  As for me, I hope I can juggle even better between work and household, and being a mother and a wife, sometimes I really hope I can be an octopus, lol, and that there could be a specific knock-off time where I can put aside everything and look forward to sit and chill and relax.

Almost 3 quarter of the year has passed!

Omg, almost three quarter of the year has passed but I have not written a single post! This year seems to be running on turbo mode.

I'll try to pen down as many things as I can recall for the past 9 months.  This is an emotionally trying year for Le Xuan and of course for me and Papa too. She had been streamed to the best class in Primary 3 where she had to cope with heavy school work, which was an exponential change compared to last year. She had to get used to new classmates and teachers which was very challenging for a socially awkward child. On top of that, she had to join a CCA where she started with Red Cross. But things got worse in Term 2 where she suddenly developed this anxiety disorder where she cried every morning to school and in school every single day. She would call me during recess time and lunch time and I could sense the fear and anxiety in her. I felt so hopeless and decided to bring her to a psychologist. Form teacher also changed her seat and asked some classmates to make friends with her. Her CCA also changed to English club as she had no friends/classmates when she was in Red Cross. The whole saga even dragged till SA1 exam period where she continued to cry and complain of tummyache. Thank goodness her condition improved after her exams and we were praying so hard and are still praying hard that this would not happen again. 心病是最难医的, really hope that our dear daughter can overcome all odds and grow to be resilient.

Of course there were also more positive and fond memories. Le Xuan got the chance to perform in Steinway, and she was so happy that papa and mama finally upgraded her piano to a steinway piano! Super expensive, $12000!!!! Darling also performed in her music school recital recently and we could see that she had gained alot of confidence through all these exposure. We're very happy that we can continue to develop Le Xuan in her area of interest and talent, and this can potentially help pave her future career too, lol.

Oh, I must also pen down that Le Xuan and mama just completed a POSB passion run for kids over the weekend! This was the first time we participated in such an event, and my objective was to set a good example for Le Xuan and train her resilience through running. I was a little stressed about this at first but a reminder to self was: Growth and discomfort are not mutually exclusive.

As for Rong Rong, she has definitely grown to be more articulate and cheeky this year, but this little girl sure has a bad temper compared to jiejie, which is something I have to work on, hehe. She loves sour food like tomato, yogurt and the pink lotus from Just Acia, and hates green vegetables and meat, tsk tsk. Her favourite colour has changed from orange to pink, and she loves to read like her jiejie. Playing of Bounce Patrol songs is a must daily, and it's so hard to get her to bathe every day.  She calls Papa Gerald and sometimes Jackson, and herself Piggie and Alicia, can't imagine what's next. She quarrels with jiejie very often (all siblings do), but poor jiejie seems to be the one who gets bullied or hit most of the time. Oh and one thing that hasn't changed since she was a little baby, that is, she hates to sleep and she loves to say "我不要睡觉". This little girl will be turning 3 this weekend, but we already had an advanced Dora themed birthday party for her last Sunday, haha but we plan to just have a small celebration within our own family from next year on.  Come to think of it,  Rongrong is going to start her preschool in 4 months' time, I'm sure it's going to be a challenge but I sure hope it can be a smoother transition as compared to jiejie last time.

Now, I'm looking forward to our family trip to Hong Kong (6D5N) in November! The girls will be delighted to be staying at Disneyland hotel and hope Le Xuan will have an enchanting and unforgettable birthday there. But meanwhile, she has to study hard for her upcoming exams, lol.
